Houston, Austin Rank Highly On Best Places To Launch List

Houston and Austin have both made the top ten of the Fortune Small Businesses top metro areas for small business startups. According to the list, Houston was ranked at number 4, and Austin at number 8 for their attractiveness to business startups. Citing such efforts as the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, and Austin's angel investments groups--in addition to the business-friendly tax structure of Texas--the publication ranked both cities above New York. Number one on the list was Oklahoma City.
