Hired Launches In Austin, Aims To Attract Developers To City

Online job marketplace startup Hired, which helps technical talent connect with high tech companies and opportunities, said this morning that it has launched in Austin, and also booted up an effort to attract software developers to move to Austin. Hired said it has opened up an office in Austin, and also will offer up $5,000 bonuses for candidates interested in moving to Austin.

Hired said that it already is being used by RetailMeNot, Spiceworks, Reaction, Sparefoot, Umbel, and Under Armour. Hired's system is geared towards in-demand developers, designers, and others, and involves pre-vetting of both companies and job seekers; the company said it provides upfront offers from companies to candidates, and particularly looks to help in-demand people who are overwhelmed with job opportunities. Hired is based in San Francisco, and is venture backed by Crosslink Capital, Sierra Ventures, SoftTech VC, and Sherpa Foundry.
