HelioVolt Shuffles Execs

Austin-based HelioVolt announced Wednesday that the firm has made a number of executive changes, saying that it has named board member Ron Bernal as interim CEO. The company also said that it has hired on Sanjeev Kumar as Chief Financial Officer, and that founder and former CEO Dr. BJ Stanbergy will become Chief Strategy Officer and Chairman of the board. The firm said the move was part of preparation for full scale commercial production at the firm, saying that it was also conducting an international search for a permanent CEO to lead the company. Bernal is currently a partner at venture firm Sutter Hill Ventures. Kumar joins the company from Energy Conversion Devices, where he was CFO. Heliovolt is developing thin film, photovoltaic coatings being targeted at creating low-cost, CIGS-based PV materials.
