HID Global Deploys RFID Tags In Laundry Application

Austin-based HID Global reports that it has deployed its UHF RFID technology in Switzerland, as part of a commercial laundry system. According to HID Global, its tags are being used in bed linens, napkins, towels, and clothes at the mARTigny boutique hotel in Valais, Switzerland, to help manage that hotel's commercial laundry environment. The company says its tags withstand repeated washing (up to 300 loads), drying and ironing. The hotel is using the RFID tags since it uses personnel with disabilities to work at the laundry, through the Foundation of Valais in Favor of Mentally Handicapped Persons (FOVAHM); the RFID tags are used to help improve handling of laundry by helping the staff's memory and cognitive challenges, according to HID Global.
