Gazzang Claims Strong Growth

Although it was light on financial details, Austin-based Gazzang, the developer of cloud-based, encryption software which helps software developers secure MySQL and other database software typically used in the cloud, claims it had its "strongest period" to date in the first quarter of the year, after seeing revenues grow "substantially" quarter to quarter. The company, which did not disclose any actual financial details of the growth or any percentage increase, said the growth came from increasing demand for its products for use in the cloud and big data applications. The firm said its newest customers include the United States Department of Health and Human Services, SAIC, Numara (a division of BMC Software), Movero, UCLA Health System and the University of Michigan. Gazzang is venture backed by Austin Ventures and Silver Creek Ventures, and is headed by Larry Warnock. Warnock has significant prior experience at such enterprise software firms as Phurnace Software (sold to BMC) and Vignette.
