GameStop: We're Keeping Doors Shut On Thanksgiving

Grapevine, Texas-based GameStop said today that--despite industry pressure--it will continue to keep its stores closed on Thanksgiving Day, as part of what it says is an effort to let its customers enjoy the holiday with family and friends. The retailer said it "strongly" believes Thanksgiving should be spent relaxing with family and friends, and not worrying with the stress of where to find the best shopping deals. The move is in stark contrast to a trend by retailers to ignore the traditional Thanksgiving break, and instead just use the holiday as yet another, shopping and sales day. However, in a nod to the pressures being felt by the retailer, the company said it will take orders on its websites on Thanksgiving Day.
