GameStop Completes Geeknet Buy

Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop said Friday that it has completed its acquisition of Geeknet, after a tender offer for the publicly traded company. Geeknet had been previously listed on the NASDAQ as GKNT. GameStop paid $20.00 per share in cash, or approximately $140M, for Geeknet. Geeknet develops collectible figures and products, and had previously been in a deal to be acquired by Hot Topic, before GameStop swooped in for a last minute, higher acquisition price.
