Freescale Targets Wireless Charging Market

Is the market ripe for wireless charging? In an effort which may help with adoption of wireless charging, Austin-based semiconductor manufacturer Freescale has rolled out a number of wireless charging ICs and reference designs, which make it easier for electronics manufacturers to incorporate wireless charging into their products. According to Freescale, its new ICs and designs are aimed at automotive and consumer applications, and are qualified under the new Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) standards for wireless charging. The company said its products are "Qi-certified" to the standard, and also allow manufacturers to customize how the products work.
