Freescale Expands Licensing Of ColdFire
Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor said today that it has expanded its licensing of its ColdFire semiconductor cores, in a deal with IPextreme. According to FreeScale, IPextreme will market, sell, and support its ColdFire cores to systems-on-a-chip designers. The firm said its 32-bit V4 ColdFire core is ideal for such uses as lighting control systems, environmental and building automation, access control panels and patient monitoring systems. Systems-on-a-chip designers integrate those core designs into ASIC and FPGAs as part of larger semiconductor designs.
