Freescale Buys Business Unit From Mindspeed

Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor said this morning that it has acquired the Comcerto CPE communications processor business of Mindspeed Technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Mindspeed's business unit provides ARM-based, embedded processors and software specifically aimed at the communications business. Freescale said the deal includes those processors and software, team, and customers. The new group will bolster Freescale's Digital Networking product group.
