Fasten Rushes Into Void Left By Uber, Lyft In Austin

Another, on-demand ridesharing service--Fasten--has rushed into the void left by the withdrawal of Uber and Lyft in Austin, saying today that it has expanded its services into Austin. The ridesharing service, which is based in Boston, said it has received approval by the City of Austin to operate as a Transportation Network Company (TNC) Operating Authority. Fasten says it has signed on "thousands" of drivers for its service, and differentiates itself from other TNCs in that it charges drivers a flat fee of $0.99 per ride, rather than a portion of each fare. Fasten previously only was available in Boston. Fasten joins Wingz, another on-demand ride provider, in looking to fill the void left by the Uber/Lyft debacle.
