Eureka Genomics Finds $3.7M

Eureka Genomics, a bioinformatics firm with its operations in Houston, said today that it has raised $3.7M in a round of funding from angel investors and other individuals. The firm, which is headquartered in Hercules, California, said the funding will go towards its research aimed at identifying novel microorganisms associated with specific cancers and other important diseases. Eureka Genomics is applying bioinformatics and genetic sequencing to develop new pharmaceuticals. The firm was co-founded by Dr. Yuriy Fofanov, who is an Associate Professor at the University of Houston, Adjunct Associate Professor at Rice University, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Texas, Houston, and also on the faculty of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute.
