EDS Wins 10-Year, $1B Data Center Deal

IT outsourcing firm EDS announced Monday that it has landed a 10-year, $1 billion data center services contract from international insurance giant Aviva. According to EDS, it will modernize and manage two Aviva data centers located in Norwich, England. The data centers, EDS noted, serve Aviva's business in the United Kingdom, India, France and Ireland. EDS said the agreement, which was signed in February, also stipulates that some 300 Aviva employees will transfer to EDS to help deliver those services. As the world's fifth-largest insurer, Aviva provides life insurance and pensions throughout Europe and in other global markets. EDS, which Hewlett-Packard acquired last year, is headquartered in Plano.
