Domain Entrepreneur Marc Ostrofsky Launches Contest

Marc Ostrofsky, the Houston-based entrepreneur who made his name with the record-breaking sale of the domain Business.com in 1999 for $7.5M, and later with his Internet REIT web traffic firm, said Wednesday that he has launched a new video contest to encourage students to become entrepreneurs. Ostrofsky said the contest, titled "R U Gen Z (Generation Zuckerberg)" is aimed at getting students to discuss alternatives and benefits of being their own boss, and to show initiative in becoming an internet entrepreneur. The contest--which runs until April 1st--will award $5,000 to a first place winner, $2,500 to a second place winner, and a number of other, $1,000 prizes. The contest will be judged in conjunction with a board of students from the University of Houston's Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship.
