Dell Powers Animated Film Free Birds

Round Rock-based Dell said today that the new, animated full length feature film Free Bird was in part created by Dell's PowerEdge servers, which were used to develop, produce, animate, and render the graphics in the new film. Dell said that its technology was used by animation studio Reel FX for the new movie, with Reel FX using Dell's workstations, laptops, servers, networking products, server, and monitors as part of the project. Dell did not say how much hardware Reel FX needed in producing the film, but apparently was using a render farm made of Dell PowerEdge C6220 rack servers with 12 cores per machine and 48GB of memory each.
