Dell: Our Blade Servers Save More Energy Than HP, IBM

Round Rock-based Dell is pushing its blade server technology, saying yesterday that it has released a report that using its blade servers can save its customers up to $60,000 over five years, by reducing energy costs, at the same time reducing environment impact on the planet. According to Dell, it ran a study which shows that its blade servers delivered better performance per watt and consumes less energy than competing blade servers from HP and IBM. The firm said the study compared its PowerEdge M610 blade servers with M1000e enclosures, to HP's BL460C and C7000 enclosure and IBM's HS22 blade servesr and BladeCenter H enclosure. The firm claimed its blades consume up to 20 percent less power per blade server than its competitors.
