Dell Drops Smartphone Efforts, Android

Round Rock-based Dell is abandoning its efforts in the smartphone market, saying Wednesday that it is not planning to re-enter the market anytime soon. Dell--which had stopped selling its mobile devices in the U.S. earlier this year--continues to offer up its own lineup of tablet devices. The news came in an interview with Forbes. Dell also is apparently switching away from Android, and is working with Microsoft on Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets.
