Dell Bans Electronic Waste Export

Round Rock-based Dell is furthering its green efforts today, saying this morning that it is banning the export of non-working, electronic waste to developing companies, as part of its electronics disposal policy. The firm said that the policy now exceeds current international requirements on electronic waste, and helps to prevent unauthorized dumping of electronic waste in developing countries. According to the nonprofit group Electronics TakeBack Coalition, many electronics recyclers don't actually recycle the electronics they collect, and instead sell them to developing countries where workers earn extremely low wages and where there are poor health, safety, and environmental laws.
