Carma Expands Carpooling App In Austin

Carma Carpooling, the developer of a mobile app to help connect carpoolers, said this morning that it has expanded its services in Austin, to the new Manor Expressway. The company--which is based in Ireland, but recently set up shop in Austin--develops a mobile app and program which matches drivers and riders for carpooling. The company has teamed with the Texas Department of Transportation, Mobility Authority, and Texas A&M Transportation Institute to offer up its app, which provides a 50 percent rebate on tolls on the 183A and Manor Expressway for 2-person carpools, and a 100% rebate for 3+ person carpools. The company says it now has 1,000 members in Austin.
