Caringo Updates Object Storage Software

Austin-based object-based storage software developer Caringo announced this morning that it has rolled out an updated version of the company's flagship Swam unified storage software. Caringo said the software includes new, distributed RAM index which speeds up access to objects; ability to scale a cluster to over a hundred petabytes; a big decrease in node boot time; as well as other improvements. According to the company, its updated software eliminates the complexity of legacy storage systems. Caringo's software is used for object storage, which lets companies pool their storage and abstracts out much of the complexity of where and how files and things like images are stored. Object storage is heavily used in archiving of data, such as storing health records and files.
