Caringo Gets Win At Johns Hopkins

Caringo Inc., an Austin, Texas-based publisher of content storage software, revealed Monday that a Johns Hopkins University research center has selected Caringo's flagship CAStor application to provide a scalable archive storage cluster for its genotyping database. The financial impact of the new business was not disclosed. Johns Hopkins’'Center of Inherited Disease Research is a centralized facility that provides genotyping and statistical genetics to help identify the genes that contribute to human disease. Caringo said its CAStor utility does not require proprietary APIs, runs on standard server hardware and is cheaper than competing solutions. The company added that Johns Hopkins' CIDR currently operates a 31-node CAStor cluster boasting 104 terabytes of available capacity and 82 terabytes already in use.
