Big In Japan Adds VIN Barcode Support

In an expansion of the firm's tools for developers, Dallas-based Big In Japan, the creator of the ShopSavvy bar code scanning application, said Friday that it has added support for scanning VIN (vehicle identification number) barcodes. The firm said the support--available only on the 3GS--allows developers to scan the codes from automobiles. The firm said the support came on the request of iPhone developers looking to build applications with support for VIN barcodes. The firm said it will be supporting 2G and 3G iPhones with the features in coming weeks.
