BBS Technologies Acquires R1Soft

Houston-based BBS Technologies Inc., a publisher of corporate systems management software, announced Tuesday that it has acquired R1Soft, a developer of backup and recovery applications for MySQL databases and Linux and Windows servers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. BBS said the merger will enable it to strengthen its standing in the Windows system management market while positioning it for growth within the Linux platform. BBS noted that it will immediately absorb R1Soft as a new division under the leadership of David Wartell, R1Soft's founder and chief executive officer. Wartell, BBS added, will report to Rick Pleczko, BBS president and CEO. Founded in 2003, R1Soft is also headquartered in Houston.
