Austin First Market For Mobile Wallet Effort

Austin is one of the first markets to support a new, mobile wallet software product from wireless joint venture Isis, the firm said today. The join venture of AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless said it has launched its new mobile wallet application--powered by secure SIMs--in both Austin and Salt lake City, which allows users to turn their mobile phones into a secure payment device. Isis said that it currently has nine, Isis Ready handsets supporting the NFC payment service, which will allow users to pay bills with their mobile phone using a American Express, Capital One or Chase credit card account. The new app works with Android handsets.
