American Airlines To Expand On-Demand Video Streaming

Fort Worth-based American Airlines said this week that it plans to roll out an on-demand, entertainment service via its inflight Wi-Fi service, to 400 wi-Fi enabled aircraft by the end of next year. The service allows customers to wireless stream movies and TV shows. American is tapping the services of Gogo, its in-flight WiFi provider, to stream those movies and videos from an inflight library. The service hs so far rolled out on 15, 767-200 aircraft, primarily serving New York JFK and Los Angeles and JFK and San Francisco. The content currently costs 99 cents per TV show, and $3.99 per movie.
