Aereo Goes Live In Austin

Streaming television service Aereo said this morning that it has turned on its service in Austin, offering up both real time and time delayed, broadcast television over the Internet, mobile phones, tablets, and other devices. The company--which has been battling broadcasters over its rights to offer up what it bills as "cloud-based antenna/DVR" technology--is backed by Barry Diller. Aereo, which offers its service via membership, lets users view local television shows on their own schedule. The company is launching a big push of the Austin service at SXSW. The company charges $8 a month for its most basic service.
