Wayport Powers Wi-Fi For Zipit
Zipit Wireless Inc., a manufacturer of wireless communication and entertainment devices, revealed yesterday that it has agreed to a deal with Wayport that will enable Zipit users to access free Wi-Fi service from the nearly 9,000 Wayport-enabled McDonald's restaurants throughout the United States. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Zipit said owners of its portable instant-messaging accessories should be able to receive free access at the popular fast-food eateries by mid-November. Based in Irving, Texas, Wayport Inc. provides Wi-Fi infrastructure that spans some 12,000 locations in 35 countries. Zipit Wireless is headquartered in Greenville, S.C.
