TI Creates Development Environment--In A Sports Watch
Dallas-based Texas Instruments, which develops microprocessors and microcontrollers, has rolled out a new development environment in a unique form factor--as a sports watch. The firm said that its eZ430-Chronos is a customizable development environment within a fully functional sports watch, which includes all hardware and software for developers to create their own wireless networking applications. The $49 watch includes USB-RF connectivity, development tools, 3-axis accelerometer, an altimeter, temperature sensor, internal memory, a software emulator, and 96-segment LCD display. As part of the announcement of the watch, TI said it is also launching a $10,000 contest to developers to create applications for the watch.
