ThePlanet Explosion Hits 9,000 Servers
Houston, Texas-based Internet hosting firm ThePlanet is grappling to restore full service to the firm's data centers, after a fire and explosion Saturday knocked out company's H1 data center. According to the firm, a 4:55pm CDT explosion and fire in its data center knocked down three walls surrounding its electrical equipment room, taking a large number of its customers offline. The company reported Monday that no customer servers were damaged or lost, that it was restoring service to the second floor of its data center, but was working through more extensive damage on its first floor.
