Younicos Claims 1.2 Gigawatts Of Energy Storage In Pipeline

Energy storage developer Younicos, which has its headquarters split between Berlin, Germany and Austin, claims it has an order pipeline of 1.2 gigawatts for its energy storage systems through the end of 2018. The company said last week that it signed contracts for 75 megawatts in 2016, and now has a total of 200MW of systems installed or under construction. The company did not say how much of that 1.2 gigawatts is potential versus actual signed business. Younicos is backed by First Solar, Grupo ECOS, and others. The company's energy storage systems are based on giant banks of lithium-ion batteries.
