Spring, Texas-based storage product developer Pivot3 said today that it has launched a new, IP-based storage product targeting the network storage market. Pivto3 said that its new Pivot3 RAIGE storage cluster provides block level virtualization and RAID capability. The firm's new products use standard x86 servers, disk drives, and software connected via Gigabit Ethernet to add capacity. The firm is looking to replace traditional RAID devices and hardware with its products. Pivot3 is venture backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners and InterWest Partners.
