Spiceworks Seeks To Give Computers To Charities

Have a favorite charity in town that could use some new computers? Austin-based IT software developer SpiceWorks says it has a pile of Dell machines, which it is hoping to give away to a charity. SpiceWorks--which, like many companies, often has excess computers after internal upgrades--said it had a "small stash" of retired computers at its Austin offices, which it would give away to the charity of choice in a contest for its users. Spiceworks said that it will select winners on May 8th for the machines, based on the personal involvement of its users in the cause; willingness and availability to make sure those computers get delivered and working, and the true need of the cause and impact it could have.
