SoftLayer Launches Transcoding Service
Dallas-based SoftLayer Technologies said today that the firm has rolled out a new, digital media file transcoding service. According to SoftLayer, the service will allow its customers to convert audio and video assets into a number of different mobile and web formats. According to SoftLayer, the new service offers a drag-and-drop interface which will allow users to transcode their media files through a transcoding server farm. Pricing on the new service was not disclosed. Transcoding is used by companies to adapt their media files to different mobile phones, browsers, and other distribution. SoftLayer is a provider of web hosting and other data center services.
