SoftLayer Goes Green With Energy Deal

Dallas-based SoftLayer, the Internet hosting provider, is greening up its operations today, saying that it has inked a renewable energy contract with Green Mountain Energy. The firm said the deal calls for the comapny to purchase more than 10 million kilowatt hours of Texas wind power, to offset 10 percent of the electricity at three of its Dallas data centers and three of its Houston data centers. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. SoftLayer said the renewable energy will come via Texas Wind Renewable Energy Certificates from Green Mountain.
