SoftLayer Expands Three Data Centers
Dallas-based data center provider SoftLayer has expanded its capacity at three of its data centers, the firm said Wednesday, adding the capacity for about 20,000 additional servers. According to SoftLayer, it added three new data center pods in Dallas, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. The firm said it now has space for around 45,000 physical machines in total. SoftLayer said the expansion came in the form of three "pods"--identical buildouts and technology which it says allow it to optimize space, power, personnel, and network infrastructure at its data centers.
