Site Controls Acquires Assets of Excel Energy Technologies

Site Controls, an Austin, Texas-based publisher of energy management software, announced Thursday that it has acquired assets from fellow energy management applications developer Excel Energy Technologies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Site Controls explained that, as a result of the purchase, it gains intellectual property and technology from Excel that will enhance the capabilities of Site Control's flagship energy management program, Site-Command. The acquisition also includes Excel's Ikanosphere, an energy management solution for retail chains. Site Controls said it also gains Excel's customer base, which includes well-known retailers such as Hastings Entertainment and The Sports Authority. Additionally, Site Controls said the Excel deal furthers its expansion into the restaurant, fitness and hospitality markets—a move it initiated in a September 2007 joint venture with Ecolab.
