ShopSavvy: 40,000 Downloads A Day
Dallas-based Big In Japan, the software development firm behind the popular ShopSavvy mobile barcode scanning software, reported today that it is seeing around 40,000 download a day right now of its software. The firm said that not counting pre-loads on Samsung and LG, the firm believes it is being downloaded on 25 percent of new Android phones every day. Google recently reported it gets around 160,000 Android activations per day. The news comes a day after competing barcode scanning app RedLaser was acquired by eBay. ShopSavvy runs on both Android and iPhone platforms. ShopSavvy said it is number 87 on the iPhone top application list, but did not say how many downloads of its free application that translates to each day.
