Scientific Games to Close San Antonio Plant
Lottery and betting systems manufacturer Scientific Games Corp. announced Wednesday that it plans to close its plant in San Antonio, Texas, by the end of the year. Scientific explained that the plant is not needed because its other plants have adequate production capacity. Scientific said it purchased the plant in May as part of its acquisition of Oberthur Gaming Technologies. Scientific added that the closing will be phased and will result in the loss of some 350 jobs in the San Antonio metropolitan area. However, the New York City-based company said some of the plantís technicians and managers will be given the opportunity to relocate to operations elsewhere.
