Ryan Spins Out Software Firm

Dallas-based tax services firm Ryan announced Tuesday that it has spun off its enterprise software products into a separate, independent company: Second Decimal. Ryan explained that the move will allow it to focus on its core tax services. Ryan said Jayme Fishman, one of the company's former principals, will lead Second Decimal as chief executive officer. Second Decimal's lineup of software solutions--CertiSoft, STS and Workflow--provide workflow optimization, automated tax calculation and certificate management functions. G. Brint Ryan, Ryan's CEO and managing principal, said the spinoff will benefit his company's existing software clients because Second Decimal will be "exclusively committed" to developing applications that fit their needs.
