RipCode Revs Trancoding Appliance
Dallas-based RipCode, which develops video transcoding appliances, said Wednesday that the firm has upgraded the firm's Video Transcode and Transrate Appliance. The appliance is used to process video files for mobile and Internet downloads. According to the firm, the upgraded appliance boasts the ability to manage large amount of simultaneous transcode or transrate transactions, and also includes new software for identifying internet-enabled devices and the best video size, frame rate, and other information for transcoding. Ripcode's products are used by video provider to convert video files in the format most appropriate for mobile phones and other devices. RipCode is venture backed by Hunt Ventures, Vesbridge Partners, El Dorado Ventures and ATA Ventures.
