RetailMeNot Sees Bump In Black Friday Shoppers
Austin-based RetailMeNot.com, the online coupon site which is part of WhaleShark Media, reports today that it saw a 50 percent increase in customer visits this year, during the Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday shopping period. Top categories of interest on RetailMeNot were apparel--52 percent of its merchants, and computer electronics, 22 percent of its merchants. RetailMeNot offers up online coupons and deals to ecommerce sites, and is frequently used by users looking to find bargains online. WhaleShark is venture backed by Austin Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, Adams Street Partners, Google Ventures, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, and Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). Brian Hoyt, head of communications for WhaleShark Media, said that the firm anticipates more than 300MM site visits in 2011 for RetailMeNot.com and its other affiliated sites.
