RetailMeNot: Consumers Optimistic, But Blew Their Holiday Budgets
Austin-based RetailMeNot/a>, the online coupon and deals site, has recently started running surveys and studies on consumer behavior, and has found that consumers are very optimistic on 2015--but might have blown a bit past their budgets over the holidays. RetailMeNot says its latest report, the 2014 Holiday Shopping Retrospective and 2015 Outlook, found that consumers 38% of consumers have carried over debt from their 2014 winter holiday purchases into the new year, in what RetailMeNot may have been spurred by a highly promotional 2014 holiday shopping season. The company found that 83 percent of consumers spent more than they expected over the holidays.
