San Antonio-based Rackspace Hosting Inc. revealed Wednesday that it will soon launch operations at an East Coast data center. Rackspace said the new facility is located in Ashburn, Va., and is slated for a July 2009 debut. Instead of building its own data center, Rackspace noted, it instead leased some 11,000 square feet of raised floor space from a subsidiary of DuPont Fabros Technology Inc. Rackspace explained that the lease will enable it to serve its customers more quickly and cost effectively than if it had built its own facility. Rackspace is a provider of colocation and web hosting services.
