    Pivot3 Adds Serverless Computing Technology

Pivot3, a developer of storage products, said yesterday that the firm has developed new technology that allows its data storage products to offload stand-alone application servers. Pivot3 said its Serverless Computing technology will allow its storage nodes to "absorb compute-intensive workloads." Exact details on the technology were not released, however the technology involves layering server virtualization capability from Xen on top of Pivot3's storage nodes. Pivot3 said the new technology will be generally available sometime in the fall. Pivot3 is based in Spring, Texas.
