Texas saw a surge in venture capital investments in Q4 of 2014, according to the latest MoneyTree Report issued by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association this morning, based on data from Thomson Reuters. According to the report, Texas had a total of $497.5M in investments during Q4, a significant rise from Q3, when $295.4M was invested in the state in startups. Elon Musk Targets Texas For Hyperloop Test Track
Technology billionaire and visionary Elon Musk said Thursday that it is hoping to build a five mile, test track for his Hyperloop transportation system, in a hopes that designers can test out their designs and ideas for the system. Hyperloop--which was proposed by Musk first in August of 2013, is the idea of using large scale, tubes to transport people between cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco in half an hour. Geekdom Fund Raises $2.96M For Local Venture Investments
San Antonio-based venture capital investor Geekdom Fund recently disclosed that it has raised $2,964,000 in funding for investments in early stage, information technology startups. Names of the limited partners in the fund have not been disclosed. The fund close was disclosed in an SEC filing at the end of December.
