    Google Fiber Launch Set For Austin In December
    Austin is due to get Google Fiber, Google's ultra-fast, Internet connectivity in December, according to Google officials at an event here today. According to Google, it plans to open up its high speed Internet service in South and Southeast Austin in December, after working through issues installing the high speed fiber infrastructure. Google had hoped to launch the service in Austin earlier this year.

    Vista Equity Buys NAVEX Global
    Austin-based private equity investor Vista Equity Partners has acquired another software firm. NAVEX Global, which develops corporate ethics and compliance software, said today that Vista Equity Partners will soon acquire the company. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. NAVEX Global was based in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

    Dell Backs Effort To Turn Girl Scouts Into Video Game Developers
    Round Rock-based Dell has backed an effort by the Girl Scouts of the USA, to help spur interest in video game development by girls. According to Dell, it is providing a two-year investment of $788,500 to support the Girl Scouts "Be the Video Game Developer Program", which teaches the principles behind video game development, video game concepts like rules, goals, core mechanics, plus testing and re-tes (More info...)

    Vista Equity Partners Raises $5.775 Billion Fund
    Austin-based private equity investor Vista Equity Partners said today that it has completed fundraising for its latest fund, Vista Equity Partners Fund V, at $5.775 billion. The firm said that the fund was "substantially" oversubscribed. The new fund brings the total managed by Vista Equity to over $14 billion.
