Research in Motion Chops Workers In Dallas
Research In Motion, the troubled maker of the BlackBerry smartphone, has chopped staff in Irving, according to a report. The Dallas Business Journal reported that as many as 200 staffers of its call center in the Irving locatio were cut in the move, part of a larger cut of about 5,000 people from the company. Dell Powers Mobile App Provider emotive
Round Rock-based Dell said today that it has been selected by cloud-based mobile app provider emotive. Dell said emotive selected its cloud services to deliver cloud-based access to the Pardot marketing automation, Adobe EchoSign esignature, and AppExtremes Conga Composer applications. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Dell said those tools are being used for emotive's marketing automation and sales efforts.

SoftLayer Expands Startup Outreach In Canada
Dallas-based SoftLayer Technologies said this week that it is expanding its outreach to incubators, accelerators, and startups in Canada. The firm said it launched its Catalyst Startup Program into the country, to offer up IT infrastructure to those companies. SoftLayer said it will provide servers, storage and networking, executive mentoring, engineering resources, and limited financial support to starts at such accelerators as GrowLab, Communitech, (More info...)

CyrusOne Selects NASDAQ For IPO
Houston-based datacenter operator CyrusOne indicated that it will conduct is initial public offering on the NASDAQ Market, under the symbol CONE, in an update of its S-1 today. CyrusOne filed for an IPO in August, looking to raise up to $300M as an REIT. The selection of a market is just one of the steps towards an actual IPO for a company.
