    Austin Ventures Backs MySpace Founders
    MySpace founders Chris DeWolfe, Colin Digiaro, and Aber Whitcomb said Wednesday that Austin Ventures is investing, to the tune of $20M, in a new social gaming firm headed by the trio. According to the three, they are using the funding to acquire MindJolt, a social gaming firm which develops games for Facebook and other social sites. Chris Pacitti and Tom Ball of Austin Ventures are joining the firm's board along with the funding. The new firm will be based in San Francisco.

    HomeAway Buys BedandBreakfast.com
    Austin-based HomeAway said today that it has acquired BedAndBreakfast.com, an online site focused on bed-and-breakfast properties. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. HomeAway said the acquisition would strengthen its position as a source for unique lodging alternatives to hotels. BedandBreakfast.com is also based in Austin, and was founded by Eric Goldreyer.

    Lineage Expands DC Power Converter Line
    Plano-based Lineage Power has expanded the firm's line of DC power converters, the company announced today. Lineage, which is owned by the Gores Group, said its new 2-amp PicoTLynx DC-DC converter is targeted at the telecom, datacom, networking, medical, industrial, consumer, automotive, and aerospace industries.

    Apogee Software Partners On Comedy Game
    Dallas-based game studio Apogee Software announced today that it has linked with Icarus Studios, to product an action comedy game called Sam Suede in Uncover Exposure. Financial details of the effort were not disclosed. The firms did not saw when they expect to bring the new title to market.

    Layered Technologies Targets Channel
    Plano-based Layered Technology said this week that it has launched a new effort to attract channel partners. The firm, a provider of IT hosting and other related services, said its new channel program provides dedicated account managers, sales engineers, and project managers too its partners, in addition to an online portal, joint marketing material, and other channel resources. Layered is a provider of dedicated hosting, cloud computing, and other IT hosting services.
