    FiveRuns Upgrades Software
    Austin-based FiveRuns, a developer of software for monitoring Ruby on Rails applications, said today that it has rolled out a public beta of its FiveRuns Manage 2.0 software. According to the firm, the new software has added ability to aggregate metrics across server clusters; added new monitoring for PostgresSQL and other database and OS applications; triggers and event notification; graphs, and other features. FiveRuns is venture backed by Austin Ventures.

    CREDANT Names Callahan VP, CMO
    Dallas-based data protection software publisher CREDANT Technologies reported Tuesday that it has hired Michael Callahan as vice president and chief marketing officer. CREDANT said Callahan boasts more than 18 years of enterprise sales and marketing experience. Most recently, he was president and chief operating officer of NoodleNet, a Plano, Texas-based startup that focused on establishing safe online environments for children.     nGenera Teams With Talent Software Firm
    Austin-based nGenera (formerly BSG Alliance) said today that it has partnered with Cornerstone OnDemand, a provider of software-as-a-service for workforce management. According to the firms, nGenera will integrate Cornerstone OnDemand's applications into its nGen Talent offering, and Cornerstone OnDemand will integrate nGen Collaboration into its own products.     EDS Acquired By HP In $13.9B Deal
    Palo Alto, California-based computer firm HP said this morning that it has agreed to pay $13.9 billion in cash for Plano-based IT outsourcing provider EDS. HP said it would pay $25.00 per share in cash for EDS, in a deal which would double the firm's services businesses from $16.6 billion in revenues to more than $38B and 210,000 employees.
