New Day Dawns For Gowalla
A new day has dawned for Austin-based Gowalla, as the company unveiled its new look and feel this morning--a major shift away from checkins, and into the creation of mobile "location guides". Gowalla, which said earlier this month that it was turning away from its initial focus on check-ins, eliminating features, and instead focusing helping people go out to explore the world, told its users today that it has opened up a new chapter for the company, including new apps for iPhone, Android, and the web. The new Gowalla now features location-based travel guides--initially covering 60 cities--recommendations from experts, and specific travel guides for Walt Disney World, National Geographic, and the Austin American-Statesman, among others.
